Introduction

The Planning and Monitoring Committee (PMC) is central to strategic planning, resource allocation and institutional development in an engineering college. The committee is responsible for creating, implementing and monitoring the college's strategic plan, ensuring alignment with the institution’s vision and mission.

The PMC oversees all institutional operations, departmental activities, infrastructural development and research initiatives, working in coordination with various departmental coordinators and committees. It ensures that the college’s academic, co-curricular and administrative functions are executed efficiently and effectively.

Objectives

  • Plan and monitor the overall operations and institutional activities.
  • Ensure effective planning, execution and monitoring of infrastructural development.
  • Modernize laboratories, enhance research facilities and promote Institute-Industry Interaction.
  • Oversee the planning of departmental academic, co-curricular and extracurricular activities including symposiums, workshops and conferences.
  • Monitor the academic performance of students and the progress of their training and placement activities.
  • Support the professional development of faculty and staff.

Implementation and monitoring of plans.

Scope & Function

  • Ensures effective execution of plans and programs prepared by PMC or management.
  • Monitors departmental activities, student performance, faculty development and placements.
  • Tracks budget utilization, infrastructure projects and research initiatives.
  • Focus is operational, supervisory and performance monitoring.

Functions and Responsibilities

  • Formulate and assess the strategic objectives of the institution or specific projects.
  • Align strategies with the mission and vision of the college.
  • Ensure that objectives are practical, measurable and achievable.
  • Review and approve budgets for institutional or departmental initiatives.
  • Monitor financial outcomes against approved budgets.
  • Ensure efficient allocation of resources for institutional growth.
  • Define Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure progress and success.
  • Periodically evaluate the effectiveness of institutional programs and initiatives.
  • Identify and resolve challenges encountered during implementation.
  • Develop risk mitigation plans and adapt strategies to unforeseen obstacles.
  • Make critical decisions related to planning and execution of initiatives.
  • Communicate institutional goals and strategies to relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of planning, monitoring and evaluation activities.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in planning and monitoring processes.
  • Monitor, support and evaluate the development of infrastructure, laboratories and other facilities.
  • Plan and coordinate academic, co-curricular and extracurricular activities.
  • Review stakeholder feedback and propose remedial measures.
  • Assess research and development initiatives and recommend strategies for enhancement.
